I'm looking at getting the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and some Audio Technica ath-50x's. I currently use FL 12, and I mainly produce Dubstep, although I'm kind of just starting. My current setup is a HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset and Alesis M1 Active 320USB monitors going through a Sound Blaster Omni Surround External Sound Card. I generally produce with my headphones, and then to mix/master, I plug my speakers directly into my PC via USB. At the moment, I think that this is adequate. I know that this is probably crap, but do I really need an Audio Interface and Good Headphones? Also, Is there a way to quickly switch between the interface and my external sound card when going from producing to gaming? And will this make a big difference in quality in FL Studio, or reduce crashes. Also, woul this setup provide higher quality for listening to music/gaming as well?
