OK, so I've been experiencing this for about a year now. I have made some mixdowns of my own tracks for a while, and in my own headphones / studio monitors (Provided my headphones are only Presonus HD7s and Monitors are a few years old EVENTs) and they did sound good to me. I got super satisfied with the mix, will sit on each track for a week or two before decided to release them or not, then tell a buddy, "HEY! I have this new <enter genre here> track, wanna hear it?!" then they get hyped and say "YEAH!" (Because everyone tells you what you want to hear obviously...) so you play it... And when you play it, you listen and you're like... Ya know... this sounds kinda shit on these speakers.... But on my own, it sounded pretty dope.
If anyone else has any experience with this, please for the love of F*** help me out on how I can fix this issue. Is it just a perceptive issue? Do I only like how it sounds on my own equipment? Or is there actually a happy medium? Or do I need newer and more updated equipment? I've been at it for a while and I just can't figure it out. ANY tips or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm sure there's other producers out there on a budget who would appreciate some decent tips and advice.
Thanks in advance! - Edicius
