I've seen videos with people who say they keep their creation process separate from mixing and i realize that when I do try to do now, I tend to adjust volume faders as i create each section and new parts. Is it better to just use the utility gain to do so instead and leave the faders in the same level until the mixing process? Or does it matter? I am used to having my creating process like creating each instrument/layer from intro -> outro with basic EQ and adding effects like distortion or saturation plus compression...but isn't that kind of mixing already? Is it better to just create all the parts without processing and then export the stems to do the mixing stage officially after??
