I use a lot of u-he synths in my music, which are known to kill CPUs. In the past it hasn't really been a problem, but recently my computer has started popping and CPU spiking whenever I load up even basic patches.
I have no idea what might have caused this change, but perhaps there is some crap running in the background that wasn't there before, eating up needless CPU power? Just speculating though...
So my question is: What are some ways to cut down on this needless CPU usage, so that I can devote the maximum amount of my PC's resources to my DAW/synths?
(FYI: Windows 7; Ableton Live 9.6; dunno about the processor but can get that info if needed)
