Today I will be making my first post on reddit, I guess you can say boredom and I think it would be nice to help those who struggle with making melodies sound a certain way. This method will be most helpful if you use Fl studio but all this can be translated into another daw.
You will need two plug ins, tonespace and melodo 2 both should be free. This method is secretly used sometimes by pros when in music block or sometimes they just dont feel like making melodies or whatever here are the steps to making melodies like the artists you admire.
-
First step is to find the song you'd like to make a melody like on beatport and finding the key of the song.
-
If the song is in D# or whatever you simply input it into tonespace there is tutorials on you tube on how to use tonespace Im just trying to keep this short and reader friendly.
-
Every key you press either on midi or keyboard should play in the note of D# or whatever note you selected. Here are parameters I have for this to work in tonespace, assist option should be fit note to scale which would be the (best) option, midi in and out should be vst host and then set the midi output port option from the wrapper window in fl studio might probably be different if in another daw to whatever thats not in use, lets say one, open your synth of choice and change the input number to the output number you have for tonespace. everything that plays in tonespace should play in the synth of your choice now. aswell as in key. also change the trigger in tonespace to midi triggers .mod

Now that you actually have a decent melody going how are you going to edit that melody if the information is not translated? copy and paste the midi into a different instrument and it sounds nothing like the original? well... there a smart solution to that in which i spent a lot of time trying to find a way. I found melodo 2 to be the solution. It will record the incoming midi signal its being fed either from and arpigator vst or whatever , record it and then you have the option to drag the midi into the playlist to make it sound like it would sound being playing in tone space.
Outcome ; you can now make melodies without knowing music theory in the best and fastest way possible a technique not known by many and used by few . Very effective
