I don't know how I didn't notice this... but I started a new project, and usually the first thing I do is go and open up Voxengo Span on the master channel. When I did this, I must have clicked Soundgoodizer which is just under it. So now I've put in some hours on this project, and realized that it was ducking oddly. Sure enough, the bright knob was sitting in my master instead of SPAN. I don't know how I didn't hear it before... but obviously now it's gone.
However, it did accentuate highs and saturate a little, and my project sounded empty without it. So I can tell it must be some sort of compressor, but what else does it do so that I can replicate it on separate plugin channels?
