I don't mean the lower pitch only of course, but say a bass and guitar are both tuned to standard tuning and I play a riff say 2nd fret on (low) E string then 4th fret on E string, why does it sound wrong on the bass if I play the same thing. I will have typically got the tabs from ultimate guitar so should be accurate for both and both are tuned properly. I know it sounds weird, but whenever ive tried to play a song I know on guitar on the bass it sounds wrong (I get that basslines are not the same as guitar chords/riffs but often the notes line up).
