The past five years or so I've wanted to learn and study music. Recently, I finally sat down and started my journey. Of course, like most of you I'm sure, my journey is starting with learning notation.
So far - everything is making sense as everything builds on-top of and works off of each other. It also helps I associate most of music with math in some form so early on it's been helping to remember certain things.
Currently, I'm using phrases to remember the notes on the Treble and Bass staffs. Which is fine for now, but obviously I want to be able to recognize the notes without any memorization games.
Are there any exercises you all recommend for learning and remembering the notes? I'm not quite to the point of being able to compose/transcribe, but once I do my goal is to essentially write/transcribe as much as I can. Unless I should be doing this now rather than waiting.
Thanks for any feedback!
