Like the title says, I've been playing for over a decade and can play alot of technical stuff, but I'm just regurgitating someone else's riffs without any idea of how and why they were constructed in that way. I was trying to play a song that was in F major (trying to stay far away from tabs now) and there was a riff during the chorus, I ended up figuring it out with alot of trial and error but I know i could've done it more efficiently and quicker if I knew what scales might be used in that situation. So now I'm looking for a starting point or exercises that could help develop my knowledge and help with improvising and all that good stuff, any help would be appreciated!
Cheers
