Okay, so I'm new to this forum and need some advice from people who make music. My roommate is a part-time EDM DJ who is primarily focused on making music in his free time. We currently live in a two bedroom apartment, but due to a large rate hike, we are looking at other options. The only problem is that my roommate is fixated on the idea that he needs a large enough bedroom to properly make music. His current room is an L shape and is about 18 feet long, which he says is perfect for making music. Our search for a new apartment is not going very well because every unit we tour, he is focused solely on bedroom size and it's difficult to find an 18-foot long room. I wasn't sure of the exact ideology behind it, he gave me the long explanation which was basically that certain notes can't be heard in small places due to wavelengths. This was something he recently discovered and was not something he actively sought out when we first moved into our current apartment, it's just a coincidence. My question to the music community is, does he have a legitimate point? Do you need a room that large to properly make music?
