Hey everyone!
So for a while, i was running logic x on a mac mini with a 1 tb internal hhd drive with no issues. I've recently moved and had to leave much of my equipment at home so I went out and bought a refurbished mbp with a 500gb internal ssd drive so I could take my productions in my new home. I went with the ssd for obvious reason, faster applications, new tech, etc.
Now i've backed everything onto a 2 tb external drive (Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 i believe?) and obviously wont be able to have everything onto my new 500 gb drive so i will be having to work with an external in. This is something completely new to me as I've always worked with my applications and programs all on my internal.
My point is, a lot of my settings, templates, plugins, they are not in my new setup. It feels as if i'm just newly downloaded logic and it's super frustrating having my workflow that Im usually accustomed to not set up. I can't jump into my setup and work without being frustrated because that plugin is there or that bus setting isn't here. Im just confused and flustered on how I can work between the two drives as if i was working on my original setup. I know many producers who work like this but can you guys help me understand what should go where, what i should have on the ssd, what should be on the external, and even how you guys work with an external.
For what else is on my current internal drive, 137 gb of system, 101 gb of apps (not even too sure whats on there), 52 gb of ios files (also not sure here), 49 gb music creation, and 14gb of itunes stuff.
Sorry, but am a compete newb to this, as i've always worked with everything on my internal drive so I never had this problem.
Hopefully, I was able to articulate my problem well. I was debating on just upgrading my internal drive but that would feel like a waste of money and I know I can work with what setup i have now. What should i keep on my internal vs my external?
Thanks!
