I've been learning electronic production for years and I'm pretty disappointed that everything I make sounds vaguely similar (insert joke about edm being all the same anyway). I finally realized that the big thing making me sound so generic is the supersaw. Having a BIG, FAT, WIDE serum sound really helps fill out the spectrum, and I feel like it's kind of a staple... But it's getting pretty old. I guess my questions to whoever can answer them are...
- What are some good alternatives to detuned saw chords?
- How can you keep the fat saw chords, but make them feel different?
