This thread is directed to all young producers, who are below 20 i guess and why they should start finding and following their passion at a young age
My name is Sid. I'm from India. I wanted to be a DJ at the age of 15. Told my mum, she said NO. Continued with my School, then High School, then College. Was pretty average in studies. Music was in my mind back then too. Finished my education, became an engineer. Everybody is proud of me ( excluding me) Got my first job at the age of 22 . Struggled through it. Hated it. But still continued doing it. Then switched to another company but Same experience. Still continued doing it. Used to come home tiried and unhappy with my life. Parents didnt notice. They were just satisfied that i had a job.
Then one day while traveling to work from train i felt disgusted of my life and couldn't take it anymore. I called up my boss and said i dont want to work anymore . I am leaving
I was 24 when i left my corporate life. Parents shouted a lot but i didn't listen to them. Whatever savings i had i said i will invest that in buying DJ gear. Rest of the money came from credit card.
I bought all the gear but couldn't practice for some reason
I thought the gear was the issue , so i sold that gear and bought new Pioneer gear. I tried to start practicing again but still thought something was missing.
Everyday i used to try a lot. But i just couldn't do it. I used to wonder whats wrong with me. I used to ask myself "I always wanted to do this But why cant i do it anymore?" I felt disgusted. I used to try to practice everyday but nothing happened. This continued for nearly a year. I wasted one year trying to do something but nothing worked.
Then one day i read about some DAW named Ableton and how one can do sampling from it for live performance. I checked that out and i immediately liked it. I sold all my pioneer gear and bought a High spec computer and a launchpad .
But the downfall to it is that clubs only use Pioneer gear. So it became difficult for me to play in clubs . Also the local crowd preferred Bollywood music and my style was a lot different.
By now im 26. Im learning to produce now and I'm also learning to perform via Ableton.
I'm still jobless now. But i'm looking to get a 9 to 5 job and side by side continue following my passion. My parents dont support me anymore because of my career decision. Im thinking of leaving my home and get a small apartment for myself so i focus on music and work at nights in the corporate. They are embarrassed to tell people that their kid is doing something in music. So saving them from the embarrassment im leaving the home.
**The purpose of this thread is to make youngsters or teens realize that DREAMS ARE BEST FOLLOWED WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG BECAUSE
1) Your parents will fund you
2) You can make enumerable amounts of trial and error and keep trying out new things because you have lot of time.
3) You can continue your education and still follow your passion which is easier than doing it with a job later.
4) You dont have to fight with your parents later.
5) You are less stressed.
6) You won't have financial issues
But still remember. Its tougher when its late. BUT BETTER LATER THAN NEVER**
