As the title claims, I've been producing for quite a while now and would consider myself somewhat advanced when it comes to production. One aspect I haven't been able to figure out properly though is why my own samples that I've created through my finished projects end up unusable? By unusable, I mean that if I were to say freeze and export the one shot sound I created into audio form, drop that into a sampler and try even transposing it +1 -1 it won't sound good at anything other than its original pitch (and yes, I'm not blindly transposing complicated chords, I'm talking about as simple as just a one note lead). Is there something I'm missing out on perhaps? Why do the sounds provided by sample companies sound so much better, even the basic stuff like a sine sub dropped into a sampler from loopmasters ends up being more usable than the same sub exported out of a synth in sample form by myself? Is it the difference in gear? Would a more expensive audio interface increase the quality and usability of my samples, or is this down to something else?
This is not just only about samples, it also extends into actual production territory. Say I was working on a track and want to save CPU% so I start freezing and turning some layers into audio form, why do these same layers end up sounding much worse in audio form than before? And why am I not able to manipulate these same sounds the same way I can manipulate a simple one shot from a reputable sample company?
For those interested, I'm using Ableton Live as my main DAW/Fabfilter Suite for all my mixing needs/Serum, Massive, FM8, Sylenth etc as my vsts.
