I've been producing over 10 years now and I barely post here because there isnt much question for me left.
Yet I never could find a satisfying answer if its better to make good sounding drums first and then put everything on top - OR if its better to get a good hook first and then drum over it.
I know the obvious answer is "both works", "depends on workflow". Thats not really satisfying though.
There are negatives to both. Doing the drums first limits the possible hooks that work with the drum, doing the drums later could make you spend not much detail on them or make the drums not groove propeely without the hook in place. So my question to traditional musicians who were in a band - how did you go about this most of the time?
