recently i have noticed a problem i face while designing chords or melodic elements in a track. basically when i lay down a chord, lots of the time I will feel what notes or chords should come after. they will all just sound "right" to me. but once i finish, i realize that i just remade chords from a different song... this has happened a lot, and it seems impossible to avoid.
some song chords I have accidentally remade:
- caves by haux
- take a chance by flume
- scared to me lonely by martin garrix
- you know by flume (also accidentally remade a similar synth patch to the song)
- fire by said the sky
- never be like you by flume and probably many more!
so im just asking if anyone knows of ways they can keep themselves in line without copying someone. cheers
