Something I realize more and more as I get older in life is that notes and organization is super important. Anything that is important or needs to be remembered, I have to write down because I will probably forget it.
Anytime I hear a cool sample I have, or a preset, I would think 'cool! I'll make a note if that and remember it!' Inevitably, it would always be forgetter.
Take an hour or two, sit down, and really make easy locations in your daw and libraries for easy drag and drop of cool presets or samples so you can find them easier. You will feel so relieved that you did it and your workflow will increase so much. There's a reason artists like jauz mention they make songs incredibly fast, and being organized helps for sure (not to mention practice and talent out the ass).
In conclusion, make an easy location for custom samples and favorite samples, make a location for each of your favorite synths favorite presets and custom presets, and whenever something sounds good or you want it to stick, place it in there!
