Just kidding guys.
Seriously though, this is my one weird tip. You know how the brain is always looking for patterns, seeing faces in objects, filling in missing details when they're not there etc.
Well, I noticed that when I left my studio to go get a cup a of tea, I left my 8 bar a loop playing and as I was approaching the studio I could hear it playing on the other side of the door very fair tly. I could imagine far more going on over the track than was there.
I have to say, it's difficult to hold that piece of imagined music in your mind and then quickly rush back to your seat, open say the and program it in
But you do get ideas. Usually, I just him the idea overthe top. If you have a remote control, it's good to start and stop the track to this k about breaks and drops. People will this k you are nuts, trying to write music on the wrong side of the door, but genuine ideas have come out of imagined ibg what could be in your song.
Now, I'm sure you might say, why don't you just turn down the volume and listen in fro t of your DAW. IDIOT!
I have to say, it's the muffled, quiet distortion. That gets your brain filling in the gaps.
Give it a try, let me know what you think.
