I, like many of the people in this sub, just make music as a hobby. Something to help pass the time when I'm not at work or studying. I love making remix's of songs I enjoy, and I can usually find really good acapellas.
I have just completed a remix of a song that I really like, but I have only found a DIY acapella that has a lot of bleed and doesn't sound the best. Also I am forced to not use the chorus/hook of the song because of how bad the quality is at those sections.
I know the easiest way to get official stems is through remix competitions if you are not a well known artist, but I have already completed the song with the not-so-good vocals. I was wondering if anyone had any experience in writing to either the artist or the label, requesting for song stems or even just the vocal stems. I know my chances are very bleak, because I am not bringing much to the table in terms of a following, but I want to give it a shot because the worst thing that can happen is for me to be ignored.
Thanks
