I recently came back from a year break from production and while I got back back in the groove for producing I can't seem to master my track well at all. My method for mastering currently is to put Maximus on each of my mixer tracks and then adjust each band to the volume it needs to be at. When I export the wav or MP3 file it sounds fine but as soon as I upload to SoundCloud several sounds get really compressed to the point of distortion. I've tried to adjust the volumes so that the track is entirely below -1.0db, and -2.0db but neither of those worked. My track also relies on a distorted saw as the main element in the song which I think may have a part in this.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong that can help improve the SoundCloud quality?
Also does anybody have any standout mixing/mastering tutorials?
