I listened to a mix today with a maximum of +4.5db, and then listened to it again at 0db but at a higher speaker volume to match the loudness.
I noticed absolutely no distortion from going over 0db in this mix. They sounded exactly the same. I have always avoided ever going over 0db in the past. Was I being mislead all along? Is this "muh perfect sound quality" thing just a snooty meme spouted by the same people who think a $200 glass of beer is better than an $8 one? Am I missing something here?
I am using a 64 bit daw with a 64 bit OS.
