Hi all! Question here:
Ive been using a future-type supersaw in one of my tracks and have side-chained it to a ghost kick to give it that LFO/wobble effect (as opposed to using an actual LFO).
The ghost kick is on the same beat as the kick/sub, but I introduced the ghost so I can have some additional wobbles, even when a kick isn't hitting.
My question is two-fold:
-
is this a sub-optimal way to create the wobble in a synth? ie side-chaining the synth to a kick vs. modulating with LFO?
-
the 'duck' on my synth sounds a (tad) delayed. ie a bit behind the actual kick. is getting this side-chained duck on perfect beat with my kick mostly about tweaking the attack/release/amount of duck on my compressor?
thanks all!!
