As I suspect is the case with many people here, my ideas way outpace my technical knowledge. I've spent literally hours trying to troubleshoot this - my headphones are plugged into the left/main 1/2 output of my Komplete 6. Until recently this put out a stereo sound, no matter what I was doing. Now Ableton, Youtube, Itunes - the lot - only send a mono channel through the left ear of my headphones. I've reinstalled drivers and fiddled with Sound on the Control panel (in 'test' it shows a soundwave for the right channel, but no noise), all to no avail. If anyone can help I will kiss you.
