I'm posting this thread for some advice - basically my production work has really stagnated over the past month or two. I was looking to put together some tracks by the end of the year but now I'm going nowhere. And honestly, its partially because I don't really like making music in Ableton. After sitting and coding all day at work I really don't look forward to going home and using a mouse and keyboard to make music. I love the type of music (dub techno) and still make mixes but producing it has hit a dead end it seems like.
So, I was thinking one thing that may help is to get an analog synth for around $500 and just have it to be able to jam out to after work. Instead of sitting down and going into Serum wavetables I can just turn knobs and have a good time. That could kickstart my enthusiasm for producing again.
My main question is has anyone also experienced this situation? I know that the synth won't necessarily improve my production skills at this point (in fact it may be a distraction) but if it makes producing music actually bearable again it would be worth it. Also, if anyone has any synths they would like to suggest that would be great- I would like to be able to plug it into my Focusrite 2i2 directly.
Thanks for reading!
