I originally posted this in /r/Maschine, but it can be done in any DAW! The directions I gave won't line up the same, but the same premise is there. Enjoy!
What's up fellow producers!
To start, I have been obsessing over a certain sound that has been popping up in hit song after hit song. I'm referring to that cool vocal sound that glides between notes. We all know the "sound" that I'm talking about. It was used in the song Lean On, as well as Turn Down For What, and even the newest hit song by Snake with the Justin Bieber feature, Let Me Love You (Note: all the songs links are ad-less YouTube videos that start where the sound I'm referring to begins).
There are HUNDREDS of other songs out that include this vocal sample glide, but I listed these songs specifically because they all used a similar sounding vocal sample. Specifically, it's the "Ehhhh" vowel sound being pitched up and down.
I have personally recreated this sound, and smoothly extended it to make it Glide easily in Maschine (as well as any other DAW).
Here is a download to the sample: Harlow's Vocal Glide Sample #36.wav
Unfortunately, it can't be used properly until you set up the correct sample settings in Maschine.
Below I included some directions with screenshot's on how to do it!
Vocal Glide Setup Directions:
(click a step to pull up a screenshot showing what was described)
1) Download the sample I linked above. Then, load (drag) the sample onto a sound/pad.
2) Click the "Pitch / Envelope" tab.
3) Click the where it says "One-Shot" and change it to "ADSR."
4) Click the "Voice Settings / Engine" tab.
5) Click the where it says "8" and change it to "Legato."
6) Adjust the "Glide" knob to how fast you want the sample to bend between the notes. A little under halfway is a good start.
7) Go to Keyboard Mode on your Maschine (or click the keyboard icon in the Maschine software).

Done! Now if you hold down a pad and then press another, the sample will glide to the next note (also works with a midi keyboard).
Now, to make it sound A LOT smoother and A LOT more professional, add reverb! I use "UAD Real-Verb Pro" for my Verb effects normally, but the stock reverb plugin in Maschine also works pretty damn good, especially since they updated it a couple versions ago. Here's directions on how I would set it up:
Reverb Setup Directions:
1) Hit the "+" just under "sample" on the left-middle side of the screen
2) Hover over "Internal", then click "Reverb" about 3/4s down the list
3) Under the "Output" title on the far right, you'll see the "Mix" knob. Set the Mix to somewhere between 3% to 7%
4) Work your way to the "Reverb Time" knob on the left side, and then set that somewhere between 2.0s to 3.5s

Done! Other than reverb, Machine's stock Gate, Distortion, and Compressor are some other great effect plugins that can really make a difference in tweaking this sound. It all depending on what you are trying to do with it.
Due to my recent obsession with this sound, I have been creating a shit load of them. I'm planning on releasing a Vocal Sample Glide Kit with 45+ of them as well as a variety of other samples, but wanted to get an idea on what you guys thought first. I will be releasing it on this sub for free before putting it up for sale IF I decide to go through with its release.
But what do you guys think? Would there be any demand for this? Do people want these kinds of sounds? I'm personally not sure, and would really love some feedback on what you think. I won't be too disappointed if there are replies telling me not to release it, as a small part of me wants to keep these sounds to myself lol.
So, all feedback welcome! I will be releasing it for purchase on my YouTube channel Harlow Beats as my first kit/sample pack, and don't want to waste my time and embarrass myself in front of my 35k+ subscriber base.
Please let me know r/edmproduction It would be greatly appreciated!
