I've been producing for a while, but still can't get my mix to be of the standard of reference tracks that I use. Understandably, it likely isn't going to be up to a studio quality without all of the necessary equipment, but I was hoping that someone might be able to give some tips about cleaning up the sound, that other people might benefit from too!
I understand the process of compression, EQing, saturation, multiband dynamics etc, but overall my mix just isn't as good as professionally produced tracks. Should I be looking to pay for studio time?
