The technique might seem obvious to most of you but I thought it was interesting to listen to the result.
So then. Export your track at 16 bit .wav and dither it. Now import this dithered track into your DAW and put a intersample limiter on it. Export it again but this time without dithering (since you would have 1 file dithered twice which you don't want). Now import both tracks into your DAW (I used Audacity for this instead) and make sure to align them perfectly. By perfectly I really mean perfectly you have to get it right of the order of 1 sample (so as perfect as it can get). Now invert one of the tracks and sum them. You now should be left with what was are the intersample peaks. It's nothing that will help you a lot for mixing / mastering but it gave me a clearer picture of what they are and where they can occur.
