Hi,
I know this might be a controversial topic, but I've always been talented in Math, quickly grasping the logic and patterns behind the concepts and nailing math classes at the university without much effort.
Recently I started swing dancing (6 months ago), and I noticed that I was naturally inclined to consistently follow solid rythms and put steps and moves together in a way that makes sense. There again, I feel like I can follow through naturally without much effort. I can follow the rythm without thinking about it, and I pick moves up quickly. I still count the steps and tempo when I want to learn a new move, but then I learn it very fast and I don't need to count anymore for that move.
All of this has been my motivation to learn music. Started guitar 2 weeks ago, though so far it is mostly about chords, fretting and strumming. As a beginner, I would like to start training my ear and feel the rythm behind music so I can coordinate it with my fingers. I found out that feeling rythm in dance helped me a lot pick up new steps and the ear to feet coordination has been very helpful, but I have no knowledge in music theory, so I don't know where to start.
To all of you musicians out there, please share your thoughts and any advice on where I could start.
