I'm creating the equivalent of a hardware version of, let's say Massive by NI.
So i have this idea, of how to accomplish this. A lot of the parameters in Massive are exposed and modifiable to the host - all the knobs, the envelope parameters etc. So my idea for this, is to assign each parameter to a MIDI controller signal. I wonder, what are the limitations here? What when i run two instances of massive at the same time? I was thinking about maybe assigning the controller inputs dynamically instead, so only once i start changing a physical knob, it will be assigned to the specific instance of a corresponding knob in Massive.
But.. what about all those drag and drop features the Massive has? That can't be controlled by MIDI. So far i was thinking about, making my VST host instantiate Massive at the same screen position each time, and then using something like AutoIT to move the mouse correctly around on screen, corresponding to what i would do with the physical controller. Any thoughts for a better solution?
