Hello guys, this is gonna be both a question and some of my own experience. One thing as a producer I’ve always struggled with is keeping songs interesting. I’m in a place right now where I like a lot of the music I make, and I work a lot with vocals whether it be from friends, remixes, or splice. The biggest problem I’ve had is keeping the music and structure exciting and cohesive. When I listen to songs like “rich love” or “I took a pill in Ibiza” (both from seeB) they’re so simple but so catchy, interesting, and their flow is excellent. In my experience the best ways to get those elements is to have sounds the carry from a verse maybe into a buildup, or a downlifter/impact at the end of a drop that winds down as the pianos and pads come back in for the verse/interlude. I also find using different sounds even if it’s only a few rhythm or bass notes can be very helpful. Even so, I still find difficulty in this area. Concerning tropical house, future bass, trance, electro house, or any genre— what do you guys do to keep the listener interested? Can be anything as simple as movement by modulation, different sounds, different melodies. Just looking for ideas, and for others to helpfully learn too. Thank you and happy Friday!
