At what point does quantity exceed quality? I've sorta hit a rut where I feel like I keep churning out songs but am not getting it to reach as many people as I should. I'd love to have some input from the community on how you've dealt with this issue but I don't want to post my own music here to make it seem like I'm self promoting. Here's where I'm at though:
I've been producing trap music steadily for about 4 years now. I started out doing just trap instrumentals and beats to doing more bootleg remixes as those have been what's most successful for me. I've got 330 songs up on my main SC, 40 tracks on my remix account and 138 videos on youtube. during this, I've transitioned from focusing on SC more to doing YT and I'm stuck at 1k subs on SC and on YT, my subs have grown to 1.6k but I always get comments from fans saying they can't believe I don't have more subs/views etc. my highest viewed remix has a little over 300k views. most people seem to just view my videos but do not sub. I also feel like my branding is pretty professional and consistent across the board but perhaps I need more enticing thumbnails of celebrities for the remixes or just something more enticing than my own branding.
At this point, I'm really not sure what to do anymore. On SC, I set up a separate account just for remixes because of how stringent SC used to be, I've already garnered two strikes on my original account. Am i just not promoting it right? Should I be reaching out to blogs and such? I've also never performed a live DJ set - my first official one will be at a house party this halloween. perhaps that's another thing to tackle since I know most DJs have the problem of not making their own music. also, my most popular music are bootleg remixes so I can't really put those on spotify, itunes, etc. I feel like Im a catch-22.
I'm sure other people have been in similar positions before but I'd love to get some input on what has helped you promote your music in the best way and gain a greater following. Also, has any one here worked with an agency or consultant to help them with marketing their music the right way? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
