I am in a situation where my DAW doesn't support transport controls from my keyboard, however my keyboard allows me to program buttons to send arbitrary MIDI events on any MIDI channel. Is there any software that can watch for midi events and would do something like press the space bar when a specific midi event is received on a specific channel? This would allow me to program my own transport controls using the DAWs keyboard shortcuts which would be really useful.
I know there are tools for using your computer's keys as a midi keyboard, but I kind of want the opposite. I want to control my computer's keys with some of the soft buttons I can program on my keyboard.
Any help is appreciated, it's hard to find information on google since the computer keyboard and a midi keyboard both have the word keyboard and most people are looking to do the opposite of what I am. My google-fu is weak.
Edit: Actually, I may have just found my answer: https://www.bome.com/products/mtclassic
