So sadly I returned my OP1 today. While it was not only an interesting standalone songwriting tool, it had also become a nice on the go (or relaxing on the couch) option for a small portable midi controller. While I was sad to see it go back, it was justified in me coming home with a beautiful new Roli Rise 49. Phenomenal instrument, and is the easily the best decision Ive ever made.
So while I am esthatic with my new addition to the studio, I'm looking to get another small 25 key controller.
While I was at Guitar Center I looked over their incredibly limited line of products in this category. I almost went for the Akai Mini, they had them on sale for 80 bucks, but when I played the demo, it felt like a childs toy. The keys were so flimsy, and definitely was not something I would have been comfortable with in the long run.
Ive considered a Seaboard Blocks, for the Bluetooth, and the fact Ive been quite entertained recording the Noise app into Garageband on my Ipad. But Im trying to stay closer to the $100 range for this, as I don't want to worry about accidental drops/spills/etc.
Any suggestions to check out would be appreciated. I literally don't need it to be super fancy. I don't need it to (but it can) have drum pads, mixers and tone knobs etc. I just need 25 keys, that feel GOOD, solid, and well built for a decent price. Thanks for any help!
