Hi guys, I've been on this sub for a few years now, producing music for about 6 years, and I used to do YouTube videos for a number of years as well. I made gaming videos, and was fairly successful there (~5m total views across two channels). Some of my music is seeing mild success, and I was considering moving back toward the YouTube platform but this time centered around music production.
I wanted to know what you guys consider to be necessary for a good production tutorial. In my opinion, there is a spectrum when it comes to production videos on the internet. On one end, there is the fast paced, overly edited, in your face videos - see Cyclops, Edwan, or Rocket Powered Sound. On the other side there are the slower paced channels such as Mr. Bill, Sadowick, etc.
I think I could find my home in a middle ground between these two - acknowledging that most people don't want to watch a 30-45 minute video if they don't know that it will be worth the time but at the same time a 4 minute video that's 25% memes and joke based editing isn't nearly informative enough for the serious producer.
What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions, or ideas that many production YouTube videos tend to miss?
