I bought FL Studio about a year ago and have been tinkering with it here and there, but have just recently been diving really deep into it. I love 80's music, specifically synthwave stuff like Hotline Miami. I don't have access to Nexus right now, as I can afford it at the moment, but have downloaded a bunch of free vst's including Mono/Fury, Synth1, SQ8L, and a bunch of TAL stuff.
My problem is, I don't actually know what I'm doing with them. I don't know what does what on the wave shaping stuff, and I'm no sound engineer! For this synthwave song I'm making, I want the lead synth that comes in to be a really bright, brassy kind of synth, that so far I've only seen tutorials on Nexus for!
Do you have any recommendations on what I should read up on, acquire, watch, so that I can make this sound as if it came out of a movie??
