This question might sound to be really silly.
When we apply reverb to one shots or things that have silence in between, we hear the tail of the reverb. Because of the tail, we infer a lot about the reverb's characteristics. Like what kind of reverb is used? What kind of decay is used? Is it placed in a room, or a chamber and etc.
Now we come to things like those electro type arps, which are like very heavy frequency wise and are loud. Also things like sustained pads/strings. How do you put reverb on these things? I find it to very hard to listen to the reverb when applied to these things.
I mean yes, if the volume of these things is low, you can very well hear the reverb. But then what if the volume of these things is loud ( In the context of the mix, of course )?
