Personally when I started making music, I wasn't a fan of loops. It felt lazy, uncreative and "cheating" as to say. However, I recently watched an "In the studio" style video with Russ Yallop, and he uses loops within his productions but in a more creative way. I'd never thought of cutting out the sounds I don't want with envelopes, and changing the pitch in certain parts, then stacking multiple loops on top of each other to get one whole new loop. My production level has definitely increased since applying this sort of style to my productions, I only use percussion loops as i'm not very good with creating my own, but I thought it was interesting how my whole perception of them changed once I found a more creative method of using them.
What are your opinions on the matter? Do you use them? avoid them? I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks about it as i've seen various opinions in the past (:
