There is a post on here about Soundcloud and paying for likes / reposts. I just want to know your opinion in playing into this game.
I initially thought, "Good Music speaks for itself, why pay for likes, you are just wasting money falsely pumping up your crappy music"
But lets look at it from a different perspective. Let's say you are, by industry standards, a great producer (not saying me.. but humor me for a second). Is it to your advantage to participate in the rat race and pay for the reposts? Does it hurt you any?
I was watching a laidback luke video of him choosing tracks to sign. And he directly looked at the amount of plays and the amount of followers of the artist. It was part of his decision on signing the track.
So my question is: If your music is up to par. Does it then make sense to sell your soul and participate in this practice? Or does it really not matter at all.
I would like to hear from actual A&R Reps.
