I'm 20 yrs old, have been in love with music all of my life. I'm from ATX & go to school in the deep South. Electronic/mixing-type music isn't quite as widely appreciated here, which is totally okay, it'll always be like that. I want to have a lot of freedom, but still reliable & simple-ish to learn. That being said, technology is NOT a weakness of mine. I want a device/program that are still REALLY COOL!, but not overly complicated, from a dj's persp. I don't want anything too expensive for starters (hopefully $150-300...?), but I also want to pay enough to feel like I'm actually invested in this activity. I need suggestions about programs to use too, but I'll worry about that another week. Assuming the software is free, I would pay $400, maybe 5, for a device that's out-of-this-world, or if I'm convinced I'm 100% getting my money's worth.
I'm really excited about this, so please, give me guidance! Hot brands, features to look for, opinions, previous mistakes, I want to learn as much as possible!! But still, please explain everything to me like I'm a small child b/c I'm really new to this. I have a 2.7GHz MacBook Pro, with 8GB of RAM.
