In a former life I made music using Cakewalk and then Sonar. We're talking 10 years ago or more. I never used softsynths, mostly MIDI that I then bounced to audio tracks for mixdown.
Now I'm setting up a new project studio and trying to figure out how to migrate my old stuff and move forward. The old system is a Windows desktop running Sonar 2.0 (I'm not sure on this, as I haven't booted it up in a long time). I have Reason 8.0, and while I love it, it isn't really a workstation environment like Sonar was. Moreover, I have no idea how I would get all of my audio in the "Wavedata" folder into my new system (the way Sonar stored things was in a modified Wave file format that had cryptic names).
So.... questions.
Do any of you use Sonar currently? I feel like there are probably better programs, but I'm not sure what would be the most logical to transition to if I moved from Sonar. I would like to continue using Reason and I'm assuming these days it is pretty painless to sync up and get these programs to play nice.
Migrating all of my audio data... If I were to leave Sonar are there other programs that would let me import my songs (I assume I could put them in .bun format- is that still a thing?) What is my best option there?
