My JBL LSR 305 monitors are standing very close to a wall (I mean, their back is very close to a wall) and I get very exaggerated kick drums most of the time. So after checking the kicks with my headphones, I've discovered that they sound weak, literally like a fart.
So... Without the money for an acoustic treatment and the lack of space in my small room, I've decided that I'll try to 'learn' my room and the monitors.
it Turns out, that when I add an adequate amount of bass boost (FL Studio plugin), EQ and reverb (not a lot, just a really small square room amount), the kick sounds somewhat close to what I hear in my monitors.
The question is - is that a legitimate method/workaround for this issue? The problem with low frequencies that I'm facing is mostly present in the kick drum samples, while the accurate subbass sound is easier to get both on monitors and headphones.
Anyone?
