I recently acquired a pair of KRK Rokit 5's for a great deal ($100 for the pair), and I love them. Just one issue: I can't use them with my Desktop.
It doesn't happen when they're plugged into any other source I've tested (Phone), but when they're plugged into either audio input on my desktop, there's a ton of interference it sounds like. There's more noise whenever I scroll through webpages or anything is happening on my monitor at all, and a small background steady ticking noise as well. Again, this doesn't happen AT ALL when it's plugged into my phone. I tried plugging them into a different outlet in my room (Different from everything else), and had the same issue. From the research that I've done, most everything was pointing to a Ground Loop issue. Am I correct on this?
Could it also be just the onboard sound on my motherboard, meaning a USB soundcard or Audio Interface would fix it? Never had any issues with headphones or cheap computer speakers, though...
Setup: 2 KRK Rokit 5's connected to PC using shielded RCA cables going into a shielded RCA to 3.5mm cable, and then going into my PC. Everything is plugged into a high-quality surge protector (PC, Monitor, Speakers, Router, Modem).
