Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the game; I've produced one song and like most peoples' first tracks, it's pretty garbage. But I was happy that I actually thought of a little tune in my head and managed to actually bring it to life! I'm still learning a lot, and my latest question is: what exactly is sidechain compression? I've seen a lot of posts talking about how it's a really great tool to use to give drops a little bit of flare, and I kind of think I know what it is (the effect that makes your drop go wub wub? haha), but for the most part, I have no clue what the heck sidechain compression is. Can someone please ELI5 what exactly sidechain compression does, what it sounds like in a song, and the theory behind it?
Thanks in advance!
