I work for a music school and we are trying to put together an effective practice log for our students (whether they end up actually using it, is another story). What would you consider to be essential elements to a practice log?
Having a spot for practice goals? Time spent practicing? Notes? Staff paper? Questions for teacher? A spot for a ‘good job’ sticker for younger students?
A full page per day or some thing more divided like a planner?
How many weeks should the log cover? (we were thinking 18-20 weeks about a semester)
Any thoughts on paper size? Would having it be spiral bound be better than traditional binding?
Would your suggestions change depending on the age/skill level of the student? Would your suggestions change depending on if the log is used in conjunction with a teacher vs for personal development?
We really want to make this the best practice log we can for our students and would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!
