Bit of background first. The mixing room I use is approx 3.5m x 6.5m with 6ft bass traps in the back corners, 50% back wall coverage with egg shell type foam, 3ft bass traps in the upper front corners of my room, first reflection points to either side of my seated position are treated with acoustic foam and I have a DIY built 2x4 frame hanging above my mixing desk for the reflection point above me.
Now with all of that out of the way, I'd like to say how disappointed I am with the Rokit 6 G3's. I feel that they do not accurately project anything above 13k and anything below 100Hz. I primarly produce bass house, techno, garage etc where presence and low end are essential to a good mix. Reference tracks which sound incredible in clubs, on Hi Fi systems, good car stereo's etc sound muddy and lifeless on the Rokit RP 6's. These tracks are not of low quality and have tonnes of life, excitement and drive in them, yet the Rokit's make them sound lifeless, boring and poorly focused.
Is it possible that I have a crappy pair? I've had mine for around two years, tried in three different rooms (to make sure it's not my main room causing the problem) but I still can't help but feel totally underwhelmed. Do you have a pair/owned a pair? Do you feel the same?
