Budget is 7k-12k
Expecting to spend around 10k
Renting a new room soon
Dont have the dimensions measure out but will update post with them as soon as I can
It is a rectangular room, smaller ish mid sized Wood floor
Closet with hanging sliding doors
The only piece of equipment I am keeping from my current set up that I would like to build around if necessary is my sub-Yamaha HS8S also known as the HS10 I believe, as it has the lowest frequency response at its price range.
What I need out of this room
The best compromise between a mixing room and room I can record vocals in I can get out of it
I do have a bed, just a mattress and box spring no bed frame so they would be directly on the floor But if having a bed in the room complicates or compromises any hypothetical acoustic treatment im fine with sleep on the floor
I am planning on building a desk first and foremost and am seeking advice on a few things regarding this as well
-are there blueprints available or is there anyway to build this desk so that it can be moved easily once i acquire an additional room for a studio space in the near/distant future?
-are there blueprints available or do u have any advice when it comes to building it to sit up against the wall or have space between it and the wall?
-is it safe to build before I decide on or purchase a pair of studio monitors that match my sub for a flat response?
/(Long story short the hs8 pair that came with the sub are ported to have a little sub response themselves and it was impossible to get a flat response in the low mids and low end. To fix this Im looking for a pair of active studio monitors that do not have bass ports. Any suggestions available for non ported monitors would be much appreciated as well, preferably 5 inch or 6.5 inch cones)\
-any advice on building a desk that will accomodate my sub?
-advice on type of wood etc.
I'm also specifically looking for help with how to go about acoustic treatment
As I'm not sure how long i will be using this bedroom as my studio I am only interested in the products I could use universally in whatever room may or may not move into and can add more room specific paneling or diffusion to once i move into a appropriated studio space permanently
I am also looking for any solutions for treating a room I can mix in as well as record vocals in
Realizing do to the limitations mentioned above i shouldnt expect to go overboard with treatment as anything I could do to make that room and only that room more suited to my demands may not be worthwhile, Im realistic about what sort of answers to expect meaning if it's more worthwhile in the long run to make due with just a good desk in the room thats fine but I just want to be 100% sure before moving forward.
If you would like to recommend any gear I am looking to purchase and am open to suggestions for the following
-pair of non ported studio monitors for 1000$ each or under (5 or 6.5/7 inches, preferably that will give the flattest response with a Yamaha HS8S (HS10) sub)
-a universally applicable mic that can function primarily as a vocal mic for 1000$ under, and would you recommend getting a pair of just a single mic? (Currently leaning toward purchasing a single blue dragonfly)
-best audio interface for 1000$ or under, has to be PC compatible, would prefer it to be Mac and PC compatible but only has to be PC compatible
Any advice is much appreciated!
