I've been on the fence about switching to Ableton for some time now. I use Cubase currently, and I really love the mixer and the general workflow. However, I've become frustrated by a lot of tiny things that piss me off. For instance, you can't just create automation for knobs by clicking or using a shortcut. You have to click on an automation slot, go through a menu of your current inserts, macros, etc. and then you select the parameter. Or for instance, splitting left and right channels is a pain in the ass, and due to the lack of tutorial content, It took me forever to figure out.
Reasons I want to switch
Reasons I haven't switched yet
-
I really like [most elements of] Cubase's workflow
-
Cubase's mixer gives me life
-
I love Cubase's UI
-
As hipster as it is, I really like the fact that not everybody uses Cubase. I guess I feel better using something that's slightly more unique than something like Ableton or FL, which everyone uses.
What do you guys think? Is it worth the time and money to switch?
