I think it's important for all of us to find a mentor. Like, sometimes we feel that we're too good for one, but my production is at a total wall.
I have great ideas but I just CAN;T f****** put them down properly; or if I do, they don't work because the sound in my head just doesn't seem....possible.
This is more of an issue for more long term producers; I have this world in my head, this idea for tracks, for melodies, but even when I use the hypothetical sound in my head, aka a standard b.s detuned saw, the melody is there but it doesn't DO what I need it to.
I need a mentor for uplifting trance, someone who is really, REALLY, proficient to work with me.
And I want someone who is in YOUR genre to do the same for you.
Most uplifting producers understand, for example, that it is nigh on impossible to finish an ultimate level track without using samples and kits to some degree; the challenge of doing generic music is ridiculous.
I have a world of music inside of me, but no matter how I do it, it still isn't SPECIAL.
