Hi, I just recently took a closer look in to the live gear of the electronic artist "Flume" and noticed how he utilizes a launchpad pro and a Akai Professional APC40 MKII + Akai keyboard to play his music live on Ableton live. Here's the videoclip with good shots of the gear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4l3v1HlFss
Does anyone know how this type of playing is achieved? How would one divide triggering scenes/clips/samples between the launchpad, Akai MKII and the Akai keyboard? It seems like that he triggers the backing track (with basic instruments) with the Akai MKII and then "plays" selected samples and keyboard parts with the launchpad and at the end with the keyboard.
THERE'S ONE PROBLEM: From what I've understood, when you have launched a row of clips (scene) on the session view, then pressing clips for samples/synths on the other rows would automatically stop the aforementioned scene. How can Flume achieve this kind of "instrumentation" then? He clearly isn't using the drum rack for them since you can see all the clips colored throughout launchpad. My best guess is that he has only one clip for the full backing track and all the other clips are the samples. But then the clip trigger pads on the Akai are pretty useless, and the Akai MK is only used for effects and faders, correct?
Thanks a lot for your help guys!
