I have a production background and I started mixing using Traktor. I want to use my Ableton Push 2 as an improvisational tool, but I feel really limited.
The most important constraint is to play in key. However I've found no way to synchronize key information between Traktor and Ableton. Tempo information is one thing, but even then sudden changes in tempo can lead to disastrous moments where the metronomes are out of sync.
It just seems like all-around there needs to be a better way to send over the key and tempo information from DJ software to Ableton for live improv.
Also, for live Ableton performers on top of DJ sets, what methods do you use to organize your instruments? I have a 13" MacBook so I don't have that much screen real estate unfortunately.
